SUMMER ACTIVITIES
Photo Gallery Chuckwagon BBQ

Summer in Gallatin Valley, near Big Sky, Montana is pretty darn hard to beat—warm days, cool nights, no humidity, and lots of sunshine. There are so many things to do at the ranch, and in the mountains surrounding us, that it's impossible for us to list all the options. At the same time, we know that everyone has different interests, so our activity program is completely flexible, and designed to fit exactly with you and your family's interests.

We've listed a whole range of activities that might appeal to you here on our Web site, including horse back riding, hiking, fly fishing and golf, along with the necessary details, so you can start to plan your trip; trail rides, day trips to West Yellowstone Park, and guided fishing, to name a few. And if you just want to sit back and count the stars, well that's always an option too.

Summer Activities on the ranch and nearby:

There are zillions of fun activities in and around the Big Sky area, some of which you can do on your own, others you might want to try with a guide-let us know if we can help you set up any of these trips, or if you'd like more ideas on things to see and do in the area.

Here's a sampling of some of the most popular activities on the ranch and nearby:

  • Horseback riding
  • Hiking
  • All terrain vehicle riding
  • Hayrides
  • Outdoor BBQ
  • Nightly Bon Fires
  • Mountain biking
  • Whitewater rafting, kayaking, and float trips
  • Scenic gondola rides
  • Golf
  • Guided tours of Yellowstone Park

Things to Bring:

The mountains of Montana are still pretty wild, and the weather can be wild too. The state motto is "if you don't like the weather, wait a minute." It's always a good idea to dress in layers no matter what time of year you visit. Although during most summers it doesn't rain very often or for very long, bring rain gear and an extra pair of shoes. Sweaters and windbreakers are also a good idea-it can be in the 70's or 80's at the ranch, but ten or twenty degrees cooler on a mountain trail ride. Sunscreen is a good idea, especially at our altitude.
